Spices Thai was an existing Thai Restaurant chain, which had already established itself as a place to meet for good food. While the previous two restaurants were very traditional in their appearance, they were quite dark and oppressive and also very expensive to fit out with a lot of imported furniture and specialist equipment.

 

The Spices Thai Restaurant in Mount Wellington was requested to present a modernist take on the original Thai theme, but to present a lighter and brighter aesthetic. The use of pink and orange colours, the inclusion of timber and ethnic statues remained  part of the traditional design brief, but with a cleaner, edgier take on some of  those themes.

Pure Design provided Interior Design, Graphic Design, Signage, uniform and Multimedia Design solutions, all internally within our practice, resulting in a seamless presentation of the Spices Thai Brand.

This result was such a successful modern design solution, it won the Regional ADNZ award for "Best Commercial Interior" and was a finalist at the ADNZ National Design Awards in the same category/year.
